Libya’s Al-Ahly Tripoli basketball team made history in African basketball by winning the Basketball Africa League (BAL) title after defeating Angola’s Petro de Luanda in an exciting final held on Saturday evening.

Al-Ahly finished the first half leading 43-38 after a strong performance in a game full of momentum shifts. The Angolan side started strongly, yet Al-Ahly took control to end the first quarter ahead 33-22, before Petro gradually reduced the gap in the second quarter.

At the start of the second half, Al-Ahly Tripoli continued its strong display, maintaining its lead despite Petro’s attempts to achieve a comeback, ultimately securing a comfortable win and claiming the first continental title in the club’s history.

With this historic achievement, Al-Ahly Tripoli becomes the first Libyan club to win the BAL championship, earning a place among Africa’s basketball champions and raising the Libyan flag high on the continental stage.
