Ligi Kuu Bara: Matola admits Simba SC wary of relegated Kagera Sugar

Simba SC assistant coach Selemani Matola has warned his players against underrating Kagera Sugar when the two sides face off in a Mainland Premier League fixture at KMC Stadium on Sunday.

The fixture against the already relegated Sugar Millers, will be crucial for the Msimbazi Reds, who are chasing for the title this season. While Simba will be up against Kagera, champions Young Africans (Yanga SC) will be at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar hosting Dodoma Jiji.

“We are good, we have prepared well, we are ready for the game, we are coming up against a team that has already been relegated and I always say, when you come up against such a team, they will give you a hard time because most of the players will be playing to show their skills,” Matola told Pan-Africa Football.

“The players want to show what they have, maybe they want to get new clubs, so they up their game, and it is why we are anticipating a difficult game, but I want to assure our fans we have prepared well, all we need is three points, and we will strive to get the result.”

Matola's sentiments were echoed by Simba goalkeeper Ally Salim, who said: “All we know is that our opponents are a difficult side, and what we always believe is that, anyone that we face at this level in the league is a difficult test. All the teams in the league are on the same level, so none is above anyone.

“Kagera is a good team, only that they never managed a good result, we will have to be at our best to win, and all the players are psyched towards the final home game of the season.”

Yanga are leading the table with 76 points - just one ahead of second-placed Simba, who have 75 points after both teams have played 28 matches. A win will be crucial for Simba ahead of their final showdown against Yanga, given the tight league standings.
